Trenton, NJ, United States (CNS) – MTV has been sued by a couple involved in a fight with “Jersey Shore” cast members Ronnie Margo and Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola for allegedly editing the fight scene on the show. The couple claim that the network edited the boardwalk fight “in a manner that was completely inconsistent” with what really happened.
According to the lawsuit filed by the duo in New Jersey Superior Court, the show’s producers and MTV showed a version of the fight that favors their so-called guido and guidette.
They said they have a DVD that contains raw footage from the fight, which shows Ronnie and Sammi clearly provoking them by hurling out homophobic slurs and other insults before the whole thing became violent.
They also claimed that MTV knew they were “clearly intoxicated” when they signed a release form, which therefore invalidates the waivers, according to TMZ.
The couple is suing MTV, 495 Productions, Viacom, Ronnie, and more for an unspecified amount.
The infamous Boardwalk fight appeared in an episode of the reality show, wherein Ronnie and Sammi were shown walking along the Boardwalk when Thomas yells at them, “Go home to Staten Island where you belong!”
The incident became violent, with Ronnie and an unidentified man rolling around the area until a security guard pulled them apart. The couple were arrested after the incident.
