The fight against AIDS will be helped by the announcement of a further $60 million from Merck & Co. Inc. (NYSE:MRK).

AIDS Battle Continues At Merck & Co. Inc. (NYSE:MRK)

Merck & Co. (NYSE:MRK) said it, along with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, will pledge another $60 million toward Botswana’s African Comprehensive HIV/AIDS Partnerships, a private-public partnership aimed at treatment and prevention of HIV.

This new pledge puts the combined contributions from Merck’s foundation and the Gates’s charitable efforts to $166.5 million. The drug giant said it will continue supplying HIV medicines at no cost.
