Several NFL insiders have confirmed what we had already beleived. Andy Reid will be the next head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs. Reid takes over a 2-14 Chiefs team that will have the first pick of the 2013 NFL Draft. Reid takes over an offense that finished last in the NFL in passing. The pass happy guru will have his work cut out for him.
The Chiefs have also reportedly parted ways with GM Scott Pioli. Reid is expected to have full control of the roster and have the final say on every roster move. He had the same role with the Philadelphia Eagles for 14 seasons. The Chiefs will bring in a new GM, someone who can work with Reid much like Tom Heckert and Howie Roseman have with Reid in the past.
This is a huge move for the Chiefs who get a head coach who reached the playoffs 9 times in 12 seasons prior to the 2011 season in Philadelphia when things went south quickly. Reid and the Chiefs front office will now turn their attention to the quarterback position, which was beyond terrible in 2012.
Reid will return to Philadelphia as the Chiefs are scheduled to play the Eagles on the road in 2013. The schedule will be released sometime in April.
